These soil amendment products were verified by the DA-BAFS through post-market surveillance and shows neither valid DA-BAFS’ accredited OCB-issued organic certificate nor DA-BAFS-issued Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) as of 10 September 2021. Pursuant to Section 17 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Republic Act No. 10068, otherwise known as the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010, only products with third party certification are allowed to be labeled as organically produced. Since these uncertified and unregistered soil amendment products with organic claim have not undergone the certification and registration process of the DA-BAFS’ accredited OCB and DA-BAFS, respectively, the Bureau cannot assure its organic integrity. The use of these soil amendment products may compromise the integrity of certified and registered organic farms and may pose health risks to consumers. Potential contamination may come from ingredients that are not allowed to be part of the organic product or from heavy metals and microbiological entities. In light of the foregoing, the public is advised not to purchase these uncertified and unregistered soil amendment products claiming to be organic. Always check if a product is certified by a DA-BAFS’ accredited OCB or registered with the DA-BAFS by visiting the following links:
