2023 marked a significant year for the DA- Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS) as we celebrated our 25th Founding Anniversary last December 07, 2023, at the BSWM Lopez Convention Hall in Diliman, Quezon City.
With this year’s theme, “Pamantayan: Wika ng kaligtasan ng mamimili at kalakalan ng agrikultura at pangisdaan,” the celebration became the culmination not only to showcase the services that the Bureau has rendered for 25 years but also to recognize the people behind the success of the organization.
The newly-appointed DA Secretary, Sec. Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. sent his message of congratulations and commendation to BAFS, delivered by Undersecretary for Policy, Planning, and Regulations, Usec. Mercedita Sombilla, PhD. “I am confident that BAFS will continue to stand for consumer safety in the next 25 years and beyond”, a declaration of confidence in BAFS and a challenge to continue the excellent services to the Philippine agricultural sector.
One of the highlights of this milestone was expressing our gratitude and recognition of the unwavering support of our partner agencies, TWG members, stakeholders, and DA Regional Field Offices throughout the years and forthcomings, further cementing the continued partnership. The celebration also recognized the winners of the BAFS pre-culmination contests, wherein the talented personnel of the DA Bureaus and Attached Agencies showcased their skills.
The celebration concluded successfully through the collective effort of the whole Bureau. With a newly ignited flame, the Bureau is enthusiastic to perform the duties and responsibilities with utmost diligence and excellence to Philippine Agriculture. ###
