August 16, 2021. Applying for import or export permits for organic inputs is now as easy as 1-2-3. With the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) officially getting onboard last August 10, 2021 in Tradenet.gov.ph, applications for import or export permits can now be accepted and processed online.
TRADENET.gov.ph, as the country’s newest National Single Window (NSW), is an automated and integrated licensing, permit, clearance, and certification system for regulatory agencies. It aims to connect all regulatory government agencies to trade facilitation processes inter-operable and efficient. This platform will also simplify and reduce the steps in processing import/ export permit applications. It will make the process of permit applications fast and automated. TradeNet is fully- owned by the Philippine government as part of its commitment to develop and operate an interoperable platform to support trade facilitation policies and initiatives. It is built, operated and maintained by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Finance (DOF).
To be considered fully onboard, BAFS complied with the necessary requirements for onboarding, which include the identification of HS and AHTN Codes, creation of To-Be Processes for Import and Export Permits, submission of applicable policies, Pilot User training of BAFS registered clients and BAFS training of personnel engaged in the processing of the permits.
The other four (4) trade agencies onboarded last August 10, 2021 were: Department of Trade and Industry- Export Management Bureau (DTI-EMB); National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS); Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA); and Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA).
