The DA-BAFS Sectoral Meeting brought together key players of the Fisheries Sector on April 18, 2024, at the BAFS Conference Room in Quezon City. This meeting aimed to present and gather insights on the plans, activities, and programs (PAP) concerning the development of fisheries-related Philippine National Standards (PNS) for the years 2024-2028. This initiative is in line with the Bureau's efforts to strengthen collaboration with relevant stakeholders and validate relevance of prioritized standards.
The meeting was attended by various organizations and institutions representing the academe (University of the Philippines Visayas and De La Salle University), research institution (Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center), private sector organizations (Philippine Chamber of Food Manufacturers, Inc.), and civil society organizations (Integrated Services for the development of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Inc. and Asosasyon ng mga Propesyonal sa Pangisdaan ng Pilipinas, Inc.).
During the session, participants shared valuable feedback and recommendations, aligning work priorities for standards development with current academic, research, and industry requirements and practices. ###
