17th Session of the Codex Committee on Contaminants in Foods (CCCF)

DA-BAFS Director Karen Kristine A. Roscom represented the Philippines in the discussions at the 17th Session of the Codex Committee on Contaminants in Foods (CCCF) held in Panama City, Panama, from April 15–19, 2024.

Leaders convened to address critical issues such as industrial, environmental, and naturally occurring toxicants in our food supply. Topics ranged from setting maximum levels for lead to refining sampling plans for methylmercury in fish. The discussions also centered on crucial matters such as defining maximum levels for total aflatoxins in ready-to-eat peanuts and establishing guidelines to prevent ciguatera poisoning.

Joining Dir. Roscom were Mr. Phelan Apostol of Department of Health (DOH)-Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Mr. Neri Camitan of DA-Food Development Center (FDC).###
