August 31, 2022. The onset of Ber months signifies frequent celebrations with family and friends that we tend to be complacent in terms of food safety practices. Seafood, including octopus, cuttlefish, and squid are one of the main dishes served during events should be handled properly.
To help the processors and consumers prevent occurrence of food poisoning, the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS) prepared a poster showing the microbiological requirements for cephalopods and the basic food safety practices to prevent infection.
The microbiological requirements are from the Philippine National Standards (PNS) Fresh and Frozen Cephalopods (PNS/BAFS 136:2014).
