August 31, 2022. Imagine yourself in a wet market, strolling and looking for best quality ingredients for your grilled or adobong pusit, feeling overwhelmed and pressured by sellers because it is your first time to buy fresh squid.

To provide you tips and guide on how to identify good quality fresh or fresh-frozen squid, the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS) developed two posters focusing on squid as specified in Philippine National Standards (PNS) Cephalopods (PNS/BAFS 136:2014) and PNS Quick Frozen Squid (PNS/BAFPS 69:2008).

Squid or “pusit” is one of the common seafood Filipinos consume. It is usually sold in markets as fresh or fresh-frozen. It is used in various delectable cuisines and even as street food called ‘calamares’.

This poster can be viewed and downloaded through the BAFS website at http://bafs.da.gov.ph. ###
