The DA-BAFS, together with experts from the DA - Philippine Fiber Development Authority (PhilFIDA), conducted a field data gathering activity at three abaca processing facilities in Misamis Oriental from June 18 to 21, 2024. This initiative is part of the development of an Illustrative Guide (IG) for the Philippine National Standards (PNS) on Abaca Fiber - Grading and Classification - Hand Stripped and Spindle/Machine Stripped, and PNS on Abaca Fiber - Grading and Classification - Decorticated. The team documented different grades of fibers and the process of extraction crucial for the IG's development.
The IG is a supporting document of the PNS that provides images as visual representation for specific provisions or requirements of the PNS.
