ORTIGAS, PASIG - As part of the EU-Trade Related Technical Assistance 3 (EU-TRTA 3) Project, the Department of Health – Food and Drug Administration (DOH-FDA) spearheaded the Fundamentals Training on the Philippine Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (PhilRASFF) last March 22 to 24, 2017 at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. The said training was conducted to orient the food safety regulatory agencies (FSRAs) and other relevant agencies on the effective usage of the PhilRASFF.  BAFS, as the competent authority in the development of standards for agriculture and fishery products, was identified as one of the Technical Support Agency in the implementation of PhilRASFF. 

MALATE, MANILA - Last January 20, 2017, the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) formally turned over the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Program to the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI). The transfer was presided by Director Vivencio R. Mamaril of BPI and Director Karen S. Bautista of BAFS.  Present also during the event were technical personnel from BPI - Plant Products Safety Services Division (PPSSD), BPI - Crop Research and Production Support Division (CRPSD) and BAFS – Technical Services Division (TSD).

QUEZON CITY -- The Philippines, through the Department of Agriculture (DA)-Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS), is the lead country for the development of ASEAN Standard for Organic Agriculture (ASOA). The development of the ASOA started from 2013 to 2015 aiming to have common requirements among the ASEAN Member States (AMS) in organic production. The standard provides the minimum requirements for plants (including mushroom) production, wild harvest (excluding honey), post-harvest, processing, handling, storage, transport and labelling of organic produce, and processed products.
