June14, 2022. Acknowledging the important role in the agriculture industry, the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) issued a poster on Philippine National Standards (PNS) for Fresh Fruit - Calamondin/Calamansi - Grading and Classification (PNS/BAFPS 30:2005).

Calamansi, a major staple fruit and a common condiment in Filipino households, comes fourth in the list of horticultural products, in terms of area and volume of production behind banana, mango, and pineapple.

In a 2017 interview with BusinessWorld, Emmanuel W. Ang, Philippine Trade and Investment Center Commercial Attaché for South Korea, mentioned, “Calamansi is a very hot item right now. I regularly bring buying missions from Korea to the Philippines, and when Philippine companies  come here, I match them with buyers, so I know what the Korean market is looking for and right now, it’s calamansi.”
