Sectoral Meeting on Philippine National Standards (PNS) for the General Food Standard

The DA-BAFS, through its Standards Development Division (SDD), successfully conducted the Sectoral Meeting on Philippine National Standards (PNS) for the General Food Category on May 12, 2026, at the DA-BAFS Conference Room, Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.
 
The meeting gathered representatives from partner government agencies involved in the development of PNS and serving as members of various Technical Working Groups (TWG). The activity served as a venue to review and discuss the proposed Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs) for 2026–2031.
 
During the meeting, participants identified and prioritized applicable Codex standards for adoption and development into PNS from 2027 to 2031, supporting the harmonization of national standards with Codex standards.
 
Representatives from several national government agencies participated in the activity, including the DA-Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), DA-Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), DA-Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA), DA-National Dairy Authority (NDA), DA-National Food Authority (NFA), DA-National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), DA-Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), and Department of Health (DOH)-Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
