A hive of activityThe DA-BAFS Technical Services Division (TSD) conducted back-to-back writeshops for the development of knowledge products (KP) for bee-related Philippine National Standards (PNS) from June 8 to 11, 2026, in Tagaytay City.
Together with the Technical Working Group (TWG), the TSD reviewed and refined two draft KPs: the Explanatory Manual for PNS Code of Good Beekeeping Practices and the Illustrative Guide for PNS Honey – Product Standard – Specifications.
The TWG comprises experts from the academe, private sector, and government, including representatives from Benguet State University, Cavite State University, University of the Philippines Los Baños, Apikultura Producers Cooperative, Diesta Meliponiculture Apiary, Bureau of Animal Industry, and the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries.
These KPs aim to provide a clear and harmonized interpretation of the PNS, supporting its effective adoption and implementation by stakeholders in the beekeeping and honey industry.
