QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES – September 11, 2026 – The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS) has officially gone live on the Philippine National Single Window (NSW), marking a significant milestone in advancing digital transformation and improving regulatory processes for organic input trade.
By transitioning from manual document processing to a fully integrated digital platform, DA-BAFS aims to streamline procedures, reduce processing time, and make regulatory transactions more efficient and accessible for stakeholders. The initiative began its pilot implementation on August 20, 2026, focusing on the issuance of Organic Input Importation Clearances (OIIC) for regulated products, including Organic Soil Amendments (OSA) and Organic Bio-Control Agents (OBCA), with selected organic input producers initially onboarded into the system.
DA-BAFS Director Karen Kristine A. Roscom, PFT, PhD, CESO III emphasized that the onboarding of DA-BAFS to the Philippine National Single Window represents a significant step toward modernizing agricultural regulatory processes and enhancing trade facilitation.
“By digitalizing our services, we are streamlining procedures, reducing processing time, and making regulatory transactions more efficient and accessible for our stakeholders. Through continued collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and other government agencies, we remain committed to digitally transforming government services and supporting a more competitive agriculture sector,” Director Roscom added.
As the primary government agency responsible for the regulation of organic agriculture, DA-BAFS continues to pursue initiatives that promote efficient, transparent, and accessible regulatory services. The NSW integration is expected to contribute to a more seamless trade environment by enabling farmers and stakeholders to gain timely access to quality organic inputs.
The initiative also provides opportunities for local organic input producers to facilitate the export of their products through the NSW platform. In support of this goal, DA-BAFS will collaborate with DICT for the future onboarding of the Organic Input Exportation Clearance (OIEC) issuance process.
The integration of DA-BAFS to the NSW supports its continuing efforts to improve the ease of doing business, promote digitalization, and streamline regulatory processes for stakeholders in the organic agriculture sector. # # #
