The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS) strengthened its commitment to workplace safety by conducting a Disaster Risk Management Training on First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) for its personnel on July 13, 2026, at the DA-BAFS Conference Room.

 

The whole-day training was facilitated by emergency medical professionals from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Taurus Emergency Medical Services, Quezon City Fire District, who equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in emergency response. Topics covered included the fundamentals of first aid, the roles and responsibilities of a first aider, emergency action principles, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants, the management of foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO), wound care, bleeding control, and other essential life-saving techniques.

 

A highlight of the activity was the hands-on simulation and skills demonstration, where participants practiced life-saving techniques under the guidance of BFP instructors, reinforcing their confidence in responding to emergency situations.

 

This initiative, through the General Services Unit (GSU) of DA-BAFS, continues to promote a culture of preparedness by equipping personnel with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively when every second counts.
