DA-BAFS, DTI-BPS Join China-ASEAN Training on Modern Agricultural Standards Cooperation.

Representatives from the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS) and the Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS) participated in the China-ASEAN International Training Course on Modern Agricultural Standards Cooperation held in Nanning, Guangxi, China, from May 19 to June 2, 2026.
 
The training gathered 24 participants from nine ASEAN member countries and aimed to strengthen cooperation and knowledge exchange on modern agricultural standardization. Sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, the program was organized by the Guangxi Institute of Standards and Technology (GXIST) through the ASEAN Standardization Cooperation and Exchange Center (ASCEC).
 
Participants attended lectures and discussions on smart agriculture, crop protection, integrated pest management (IPM), Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and international agricultural trade. The program also included study visits to modern agricultural demonstration sites, where participants observed China’s advancements in agricultural industrialization, standardization, and intelligent farming technologies.
 
The Philippine delegates gained valuable insights into international agricultural standardization practices and exchanged experiences with counterparts from across the ASEAN region; providing opportunities to strengthen regional cooperation, and support ongoing efforts towards the enhancement of standards development and implementation in the Philippines.
