The DA-BAFS conducted the initial assessment of a Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) group based in Baler, Aurora on September 16–19, 2025 to verify the group’s compliance with accreditation requirements as an Organic Certifying Body (OCB).
The four-day assessment covered an office-based review and witnessing of the group’s peer review. The process was aimed at determining whether the group is competent, impartial, and consistent in carrying out its Manual of Operations as an OCB.
While noting areas for improvement in implementing its Manual of Operations, the DA-BAFS Assessment Team commended the group’s open-mindedness and willingness to learn—qualities that will support its development and capacity as a certifying body.
The activity was supported by technical personnel from the DA Regional Field Office (RFO) and the DA Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) of Central Luzon, along with representatives from the Provincial Government of Aurora.
