Argao, Cebu – The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS) conducted the initial assessment of a core PGS Group based in Argao, Cebu on August 4–7, 2025 to determine its compliance with accreditation requirements as an Organic Certifying Body (OCB).
The assessment covered an office-based review of the group’s records and procedures, and witnessing of its peer review activities to evaluate whether PAC is competent, impartial, and consistent in implementing its approved Manual of Operations.
The assessment team noted that the cooperative still needs to improve its implementation of the Manual of Operations. However, PAC was commended for its resourcefulness despite having limited resources, as well as for being composed of young, enthusiastic farmers who are open-minded and eager to learn.
The activity was supported by technical personnel from the DA Regional Field Office – Central Visayas, along with representatives from the Local Government Units of Argao and Dumanjug.
